Safeguarding

Safeguarding at Manor Abbey School

At Manor Abbey School, the health, safety, and well-being of every child are our paramount concern. We listen to our pupils and take seriously what they tell us. Our aim is for children to enjoy their time as pupils in this school, and we strive to work in partnership with you to help your child achieve their full potential and make a positive contribution.

To promote a safe environment for pupils, our Safer Recruitment Policy includes robust and stringent safer recruitment checks, and ongoing vetting cycles for all staff and volunteers

In accordance with our responsibilities under section 175/157 of the Education Act 2002, we have a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), Helen Stonier & Charlotte Cartlidge, who has received appropriate training for this role. It is his responsibility to ensure that all staff in contact with children receive child protection awareness training on a regular basis.

What to Do If You Have a Safeguarding Concern?

If you have a safeguarding concern, please contact the school on 01782 354 040 and request to speak to one of the following members of staff:

  • Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL): Helen Stonier & Emily Faulkner
  • Deputy DSL: Charlotte Cartlidge & Lindsay Farrall

For any safeguarding queries or concerns, you can also email us at: office@manorabbey.uk

Consultations with Other Agencies

There are occasions that our concern about a child may mean that we have to consult other agencies. Whilst we always aim to work in partnership with parents, there may be exceptions to this when concerns are raised for the protection of a child.

On very rare occasions, Social Care, while undertaking an investigation under section 47 of the Children Act 1989, may want to speak to a child without parents’ knowledge. This would be a decision made in collaboration with partner agencies and would only be done in situations where a child might be at immediate risk. To gain consent at this point may increase the level of risk to the child or cause evidence of a crime to be lost.

The procedures we follow have been laid down by the Local Safeguarding Children’s Board, and the school has adopted a Safeguarding Policy in line with this for the safety of all. If you want to know more about our procedures, please speak to the DSL. The Safeguarding Policy can be found on the school website on the Policies Page for further information.

Statement Regarding Ofsted Report for Manor Abbey Schools

As a newly opened school in September 2024, Manor Abbey is dedicated to providing a high-quality educational experience for our students.

At present, we do not have an Ofsted report as inspections for new schools are typically scheduled after the school has been operational for some time. This allows us the opportunity to establish our teaching practices and school systems effectively. We are committed to meeting the standards set by Ofsted and look forward to our first inspection in due course.

In the meantime, we are continuously working to ensure a supportive and enriching environment for all our pupils and are excited to share our progress with the community.
